DIRECTIONS:

Our home can be a little difficult to find, so we recommend arriving in the daylight hours and ONLY USE GOOGLE MAPS. If you use Apple Maps or Waze, it will likely direct you to the wrong area! Melton Trail is a dirt turn off of La Contenta Rd once you cross over Alta Loma/Yucca (turn left at the small Yute Trail sign). Here is an image to reference in case you lose your way, click the google map below to open navigation:

FRONT DOOR CODE + INSTRUCTIONS:

Check-in is any time after 3 PM (please do not arrive any earlier as our cleaners need the full amount of time to clean and sanitize for your safety) and there is a keypad on the front door (as well as a lock box on the pergola if you have trouble), your personalized code is:

Main house:  Last 4 Digits of the Phone Number on Your AirBnB Account

*In the rare instance that your digital code does not work, don't stress. We have a regular key in a lock box as well which you can find below*

To open: Enter code and press the checkmark

To lock: press the lock symbol

ALTERNATIVE LOCKBOX HOUSE ENTRY:

There are keys in the lockbox on the pergola to the left of the front door at about eye-height. The code is 3901.

Please close the lockbox and scramble the code after retrieving the key. When you check out, PLEASE RETURN THE KEYS TO THE LOCKBOX (Lost keys will result in $50 replacement fee)!

NEW LOUNGE SHIPPING CONTAINER:

Lounge Shipping Container (Combo Lock): 2424 (must set code to 2424 before locking otherwise lock will not click in)

Welcome to our newly refurbished shipping container!! If you are looking at the main dome structure, it is the shipping container on the left when walking on the path toward the hammocks! The lock code is 2424. After unlocking the lock, remove it and then slide the latch to the left. Then lift the entire container door from the bottom middle. Please make sure to lock the container after use. The code must be set to 2424 for it to click in place to lock. Please scramble the numbers upon locking. In the rare chance that the lights aren't working the batteries most likely need to be replaced. There are batteries located inside the home. If you have trouble finding them please contact our property manager Dani. Thanks, and enjoy! Also, please don’t forget to tag your adventures on the moon on Instagram @mooncampjoshuatree. We love when guests share their photos with us and it helps spread the word for our small family owned business!!!

FIRES:

There is an EXTREMELY HIGH RISK of wildfires in the desert. It is imperative to use the utmost caution when using the fire pit during your stay. Please keep flames at a controllable level and use water to completely extinguish the fire before leaving the area. Please also NEVER leave any cigarette butts on the ground outside. This a very serious matter and careless actions can lead to devastating consequences. You do not want to be responsible for setting Joshua Tree and Southern California on fire.

***PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT PROVIDE FIREWOOD OR CHARCOAL FOR THE GRILL***.

Both of these items can be picked up at the WALMART about 5-7 minutes from the property (58501 Twentynine Palms Highway, Yucca Valley, CA 92284)

HOUSE RULES:

- All guests must be registered (this is stated on our listing so you should have already completed this step if you booked on or after November 30th, 2020). If you need assistance with this please reach out via airbnb.
- NO EARLY CHECK-INS/LATE CHECK-OUTS DUE TO OUR NEARLY 100% HISTORICAL OCCUPANCY: PLEASE NOTE THAT WE STRICTLY ENFORCE OUR CHECK IN TIME (AFTER 3 PM) AND CHECK OUT TIME (BEFORE 11 AM). PLEASE NOTE: FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH OUR REQUESTED CHECK OUT TIME WILL RESULT IN AN AUTOMATIC PENALTY FEE OF $100 AND AN ADDITIONAL $100 FOR EVERY HOUR PAST 11. WE ARE UNABLE TO MAKE ANY EXCEPTIONS AS OUR CLEANERS NEED ADEQUATE TIME TO CLEAN AND DISINFECT IN BETWEEN GUESTS. THANKS FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING!
- After 10 pm please call our local manager Dani as it can be difficult to hear Airbnb notifications late at night. We are at your disposal 24/7
- Please do not leave the doors propped open at anytime. The desert is full of critters that we don't want visiting you!
- Please do not put loose trash in the bin. This attracts maggots, all trash must be in a trash bag!
- Please do not put anything down the toilet aside from human waste and toilet paper. Our septic system cannot handle anything else. Failure to comply will unfortunately result in a $300 damage deposit as this is what our plumber charges us to fix this.
- Unannounced pets will be subject to $100 pet fee on top of the standard $45 pet fee.
- Due to our location, we are not connected to public water. Please do your best to minimize shower time to 10 minutes as we only have a limited amount of water stored on the property.
- No smoking inside, smoking inside will result in a damage deposit of $500. One of our owners is severely allergic. Thanks for your understanding.
- As noise travels quite far in the desert, please do not play any loud music.
- Out of respect for the following guest, please clean the grill after use.
- Please contact us if you plan to exceed the maximum of (4) guests. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT EACH UNANNOUNCED GUESTS OVER OUR CAPACITY OF 4 WILL RESULT IN A $150/NIGHT PENALTY FEE
- Please do not climb on the Joshua Trees (specifically the one near the fire pit). Their root systems are extremely fragile, and we really want to try our best to protect them as much as possible! They are endangered so please take this rule very seriously. Thank you for your cooperation!
- Please bring your own firewood if you plan to use the fire pit and charcoal if you plan to use the bbq.
- Please do not use our wooden kitchen counter as a cutting board. We provide cutting boards for your convenience.
- For our Fall/winter/Early spring guests: Make sure you prepare well to come to the property. CHECK THE WEATHER!!!  Bring warm clothes.
- No photoshoots or video-shoots without prior approval (personal photos and video permitted). There is an additional location fee for shoots for profit of any kind. This includes, but is not limited to, sponsored posts, both gifted and/or paid. A sponsored post is defined as a paid project by a brand offering monetary compensation or exchange of goods. A location consent form must be signed before shoots of any kind. Unauthorized publication of the property will be subject to legal action.

HEATERS:

Dome House

The dome house has a remote operated mini split unit located above the back door.

Point the remote at the unit to power on. Make sure the heat icon is selected on the remote. Choose desired temperature.

Fireplace:

1.  Remove the bottom panel to expose the control knobs.
2. Locate the light switch located on the right side
3. Flip the switch up. Fireplace should ignite in 30 seconds. - IF THE FIREPLACE DOES NOT LIGHT, CONTINUE TO STEP 4
4. Check inside the fireplace to see if there is a small blue flame lit inside (pilot light).
5. If pilot light is lit, skip to step 7
6. If pilot light is not lit, turn the RIGHT CONTROL KNOB (PILOT, OFF, ON) so that the word PILOT is in the 3 o'clock position (whatever word is located in the 3 O’CLOCK POSITION on the knob to the right  indicates the setting the fireplace is in).
7. Using your left hand, PRESS IN the Right Knob for 15-30 seconds to get the gas flowing into the fireplace. After 15-30 seconds, keep pressing the RIGHT KNOB in and with your right hand press the small black ignitor button located just to the right of the RIGHT CONTROL KNOB. This should ignite the pilot light. You may have to click the ignitor button a few times but make sure you are always pressing in the RIGHT KNOB!!
8. Once pilot light is lit (or it is already lit), WHILE PRESSING IN, turn the RIGHT CONTROL KNOB counterclockwise (to the left) one click so the word ON is in the 3 O'clock position. The fireplace should then ignite.
9. Use the LEFT CONTROL KNOB (LOW to HIGH) to control the flame intensity.

DO NOT TURN THE KNOB TO OFF... only from PILOT to ON and vice-versa. If you plan to leave the property or when you check out, just use the light switch to turn off the fireplace.

The house is highly insulated, so a little heat goes a long way.

AC:

We have a wall mounted mini split located above the back door. To use the AC please use the remote provided and be sure to point it at the unit when turning it on or changing settings. Make sure the correct icon (snowflake) is selected. Please turn off the AC anytime you leave the home. Please note there is a $200 replacement fee if the remote gets lost.

WATER:

Moon Camp gets its water delivered and stored in tanks two times a month. As a result, water is not an unlimited resource at the property. Out of respect for other guests following your stay who may like to shower or brush their teeth, we ask that you be mindful of your water consumption. Please try your best to limit shower time to 10 minutes or so (as stated on our listing for full transparency).

If you turn on the guest container shower and it has no hot water, simply press the on button on the big black box!

Overall, we strive to minimize our footprint as a property by minimizing all forms of consumption. We hope that you follow these same practices and take them home with you as well!
